School Meals

Our school lunches are an important part of the school day. We are extremely fortunate in having skilled catering staff and facilities (via Innovate Catering) that enable us to prepare hot meals on the premises.

Following the introduction by the Department for Education of Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) all hot meals are currently free of charge for infant school pupils. The meal consists of a main meal and a dessert. Children are also offered freshly baked bread and are encouraged to make healthy choices with regards to their food.

Parents not wishing their child to have a hot meal are welcome to provide a healthy packed lunch from home. You can include a sandwich (or rice or pasta), crisps, fruit and a bottle of water.  The packed lunch should not contain chocolate or sweets.  We are a nut free school due to some children having allergies.
In addition the school caters for children with vegetarian, vegan, halal and other diets, as well as those with food allergies. Please contact the school office if you have any questions or concerns.

Please refer to the innovate website for full information about their service/menus etc.

If you wish to change the type of meals your child has, please complete a change of meals request form and return to the school office giving a weeks notice.

Morning Milk and Snacks

As part of our Healthy School’s Initiative we endeavour to promote good eating habits important for healthy bodies and teeth. For this reason, children are not allowed to bring biscuits, sweets or cakes to eat between meals. Under the government’s School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme every child in the school will be entitled to a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. The fruit and vegetables will be fresh and of good quality. The scheme is voluntary and although there is no obligation for every child to take part, we hope parents will agree that it has many benefits.

For children who wish to have a drink of milk at break time, a daily third of a pint, which is subsidised, may be purchased through Cool Milk. Further details available from the School Office. We also encourage the children to bring a bottle of water into school for their own consumption, especially during hot weather periods, to ensure that they do not become dehydrated. Drinking water is available from the school drinking fountains.
